Mental Health is very topical today for all sorts of reasons. I am absolutely no expert but as many of you know there is not one cure that fits all, it’s generally a combination of things whether it be alternative therapy or medicine or regular medication. Any improvement can take a very long time. No one can know how people feel unless they walk in that person’s shoes.
Much like gardening, baking can be very therapeutic. There is something very satisfying about making something and being able to enjoy it, either on your own or with others and of course a cup of tea to go with it.
The more we try different recipes and methods the braver and more adventurous we get. Following a recipe or process step by step and being able to enjoy the end product certainly helps anyone’s confidence. I highly recommend getting out those weighing scales, flour, sugar, eggs or whatever the recipe needs. These days you can bake for any food intolerance you may have, there are recipes for sugar free, gluten free and vegan. Try experimenting with flavours by using herbs and if you can grow your own, even better and more steps closer to a healthier mind and body, see my previous blogs for more information on flavouring your favourite bakes. Happy baking, its great fun do give it a go!
